3A1-3 These images are of the cerebral cortex in a fetus of 26 weeks gestation. ---- Note that the majority of the NeuN-stained neurons are deep in the cortical layers (between arrowheads) compared to the more superficial neurons/neuroblasts which are relatively unlabeled. Likely this reflects neuronal maturation from inside out, i.e. immature neurons migrate through laminae of neurons differentiating earlier (NeuN IHC)
