Case 7 History (-7wk prenatal) ---- The patient was a 2100 gram female infant born prematurely at 33 weeks estimated gestational age to a healthy 19 year old woman with good prenatal care. Per prenatal screening and clinical history, multiple abnormalities including bilateral multicystic dysplastic kidneys, anhydramnios, absent stomach, absent bladder, placentomegaly and lung volume 6.6% of normal on fetal MRI were expected. She was born breech with no respiratory effort. Apgar scores were 3, 3,2,2,2. The patient lived for one hour. The sural nerve was obtained at autopsy. ---- 7A1,2 Plastic sections in this patient show a decreased density of myelinated axons and more numerous pale structures. (Toluidine blue-stained one-micron thick plastic-embedded section)
