There is mild/moderate loss of large and small myelinated axons with a degree of intra/interfascicular fascicle-to-fascicle variability in axon density. Some larger axons show thin myelination for axon caliber or regenerative clusters, consistent with a history of injury and completed or ongoing repair, respectively. (plastic sections)
