Case 4 History ---- The patient is a 48 year old male with weakness and an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (98) in 1/2005. EMG showed a severe sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy with both axonal and demyelinating components with evidence of conduction block. The patient has a POEMS like picture with an IgA lambda M protein and Castleman syndrome. Operative procedure: Left sural nerve and gastrocnemius muscle biopsies.
