The left panel of the image shows the NPY immunoreactivity of numerous dystrophic axons of a superior mesenteric ganglion (SMG). The right panel shows the same patient’s paravertebral superior cervical ganglion (SCG) which was stained together with the SMG on the same slide. Not only are there fewer numbers of NPY labeled dystrophic terminals in the SCG but there are fewer NPY terminals of any kind. (NPY IHC)
