Washington University Experience | PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY | 19 TRAUMATIC INJURIES | 22E5 AIN, normal (Case 22A) EMA 20X
This is an anterior interosseus nerve (AIN) from a different biopsy in which the axon complement appears normal. Since the median nerve gives rise to the AIN if this was the typical appearance of the median rather than the septated segmentation of image #22E3, I would expect to see the same pattern. Thus, this appears to be a pathologic reaction. (EMA IHC)
