Washington University Experience | PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY | 19 TRAUMATIC INJURIES | 2A1 Neuroma (Case 2) Bodian 20X
Case 2 History ---- The patient is a 31-year-old woman status post excision of schwannomas of the left brachial plexus in 1971 and 1978. She presents with another “tumor” in the same area. The tissue submitted for diagnosis originates from the scarred area resulting from the previous operations.
2A1,2 This case shows particularly well preserved histologic findings and, as a result we attempted to compare Schwannian vs perineurial immunolabeling of mini-fascicles. These images demonstrate the axonal complement of the mini-fascicles. (Bodian)
