In the section on nerve artifact vesicular myelin change due to delayed fixation is described; however, in this case vesicular myelin change (arrow) occurs in the presence of clear cut axonal degeneration. In some cases it may be difficult to tell artifact and genuine myelinopathy apart, or both may occur together.
