8C1-5 Ultrastructural examination in the majority of endoneurial areas demonstrates loss of large and small myelinated as well as unmyelinated axons. Numerous bands of Büngner are accompanied by actively degenerating axons with Schwann cells in which degradation of myelin and axons is ongoing. No demyelinating axons or ongoing macrophage mediated demyelination were encountered (electron micrographs)
