4A1,2 This 16 year old patient experienced a traumatic sciatic nerve injury proximal to the biopsy site 6 weeks earlier. I have included this case in both the degeneration and regeneration sections of the atlas. The structure of these regenerating axons consists of more numerous axons than the typical regenerating structures found in chronic neuropathies. (electron micrographs)
