The endoneurial environment is complex and busy with numerous cells, processes of multiple cells and apparently demyelinated and degenerated axons. Most pale elliptical/circular processes are Schwannian in origin differing in their cytoplasmic density, from gray (red arrow) to pale (short red arrow)) which may be identified by their back to back distribution with other pale processes, some with pi granules, rough endoplasmic reticulum and nuclei of Schwann cells. An axon is marked with an arrowhead. The apparent process marked with a blue arrow is actually a collection of collagen fibrils. (electron micrograph)
