19C1 A prion 3F4 immunostain (performed by the NPDPSC and provided for review) shows abundant granular deposits associated with the dentate nucleus and highlights the scattered ‘kuru-like’ plaques within the Purkinje cell layer; these findings are suggestive of the MV2 variant of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
