Diffusion weighted imaging (ADC) abnormalities of the basal ganglia and thalamus were interpreted as consistent with CJD. ---- At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1520g. The cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum and brainstem were grossly unremarkable.
