At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain is 1480g. The gross appearance of his brain was unremarkable. ---- 7A1,2 Sections of the frontal cortex show patchy (both images from the frontal lobe) spongiform change restricted to the gray matter in 7A1 and affecting all cortical layers, characterized by homogeneously distributed small vacuoles which vary in size and involve the neuropil.
