8A1 Contusion, remote (PD, Case 8) 1
Case 8 History ---- The patient was a 76yo male with diffuse Lewy body disease (aka Parkinson's disease with dementia). This patient developed a number of syncopal episodes related to standing up. “He had stood, became gray, short of breath and lost consciousness (as he had done many times in the past) but this time when he was sat down, he did not recover”. It is a presumption that during one of the prior episodes he fell and hit his head. ---- 8A1,2 There is a remote focus of contusion involving the superficial cortex and underlying white matter in the right inferior frontal gyrus which corresponds to the area of orange-stained cavitation and softening seen macroscopically.
