The cluster of abnormal blood vessels are of variable caliber and are separated by intervening brain tissue. Some of the unusual features are interpreted as inherent to an AVM (e.g., distribution, markedly variable individual mural thickness) and other features are attributed to radiation effect (e.g., marked hyalinization and necrosis).
