1A1,2 The external surface of this 1360 gram brain shows a large area of subarachnoid hemorrhage in the left parietal lobe (1A1) and areas of necrosis in the subcortical white matter in the coronal section (1A2). Other smaller areas of hemorrhage involve the left frontal lobe as well as 0.2-1.0 cm at the grey-white junction in the left frontal, right parietal and right occipital areas. There is accompanying cerebral edema.
