2A1 Aneurysm, mycotic (Case 2) Abscess T1 1 - Copy
2A1,2 There is a peripherally enhancing T1-weighted contrast administered (2A1) and T2-weighted hyperintense 2.8 cm x 2.0 cm lesion (2A2) within the left parietal lobe which demonstrates central areas of susceptibility effect and restricted diffusion, which, by imaging, was thought most consistent with a cerebral abscess and superimposed hemorrhage. There were at least nine additional subcentimeter foci of restricted diffusion within the posterior bilateral parietal lobes (2A2), some of which demonstrate central susceptibility effect and peripheral enhancement, consistent with subacute embolic infarcts and early development of abscesses. The dominant lesion within the left frontal lobe demonstrates surrounding vasogenic edema, resulting in mild effacement of the left lateral ventricle and approximately rightward midline shift. There was no evidence of hydrocephalus.
