Case 11 History ---- The decedent was a 97-year-old woman with a history of diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, hiatal hernia, diverticulosis, hypothyroidism, GI bleed, abdominal aneurysm, and peptic ulcer disease who was admitted to BJC January 4th for gross persistent hematuria, which had started the week prior. She was previously treated as an outpatient for Enterobacter urinary tract infection. CT examination of the abdomen and pelvis showed moderate right hydroureteronephrosis with blood clots. Urethral neoplasm could not be excluded. The patient was transferred to a hospice on palliative care and died on 1/15. ---- At the time of autopsy her brain weighed 1020g and demonstrated Alzheimer Disease Neuropathologic Change – Intermediate severity (A3B2C1 by the NIA-AA scheme).
