20A0 Case 20 History
Case 20 History ---- The patient is a 27-year-old man who had a general tonic-clonic seizure in 2011 and was noted to have a right posterior frontal cavernous malformation on imaging workup. Approximately one month ago, the patient had sudden severe headache in his right posterior frontal region that extended to the right periorbital region and lasted for several days. MRI from 08/08/2015 demonstrated the cavernous malformation in the posterior aspect of the right frontal lobe which was also associated with a developmental venous abnormality. There was peripheral T2 hypointensity surrounding the lesion that had increased in size compared with the 06/2011 study and was felt to likely indicate the evolution of blood products. Operative procedure: Right craniotomy for resection of cavernous malformation.
