Washington University Experience | VASCULAR | Cavernous Angioma | 23A0 Case 23 History
Case 23 History ---- The patient is a 50-year-old man with vertigo and ataxia. MRI showed an irregularly -shaped mass with central T2 hypointensity, small amount of surrounding edema, and a T1 hyperintense rim in the cerebellar vermis. A rapid interval change occurred leading to radiological concern for a cavernous malformation with interim bleed. Less likely was hemorrhage in an underlying neoplasm or an evolving atypical cerebellar abscess. Operative procedure: Posterior fossa craniotomy for resection of brain lesion.
