6A0 Case 6 History
Case 6 History ---- The patient was a 34-year-old woman with a past medical history of drug use (cocaine, opioids, etc.) and end stage renal disease on dialysis. She complained of a headache on the morning of May 4th,became increasingly confused and somnolent and was taken to an OSH. There she lost consciousness, was intubated and became hypotensive. A head CT showed intraparenchymal hemorrhage in the right parietal lobe measuring 3 x 3 x 3 cm. The patient was transferred to BJH ED for further care. Upon arrival, the patient lacked a gag reflex and was pronounced dead that same day. ---- Autopsy showed a 1340 gram unfixed brain with acute intraparenchymal hemorrhage in the right parietal lobe with extension in to the subarachnoid space, edema and mass effect with consequent flattening of the gyri bilaterally with likely transtentorial herniation.
