8A1 Hemangioma (Case 8) H&E whole mount
Case 8 History ---- The patient is a 69 year old woman who noted difficulty walking last fall. Work-up at an outside hospital showed a T10 lesion involving the anterior and posterior elements, with compression of the spinal cord. Because of chronic pain, it was decided to correct her kyphosis and T11 progressive compression fracture. The lesion was embolized through the right T10 artery. ---- 8A1-3 T10 vertebrectomy specimen show multiple fragments of bone and soft tissue; a subset of these show an abnormal benign tumor of vascular tissue composed of thin-walled, dilated channels of variable caliber, lined by endothelial cells.
