12A0 Case 12 History
Case 12 History ---- The patient is a 62 year old male with history of cerebellar subdural hematoma. Operative procedure: Suboccipital craniotomy, EVD placement. ---- The surgical specimen showed acute/subacute hemorrhage with florid fibroblastic proliferation. The proliferating fibroblasts demonstrate plump and active nuclei with very prominent nucleoli and multiple mitoses. An immunostain for vimentin highlights the proliferating fibroblasts. The histopathology is most consistent with hemorrhage and evidence of early organization. The patient's history of recent anticoagulant therapy might have contributed to the hemorrhage.
