2A1,2 This coronal section shows marked hydrocephalus and orange staining of the ventricular lining with punctate hemorrhagic residua, particularly visible in the right temporal horn. In this case a germinal matrix hemorrhage is accompanied by involvement of the periventricular white matter and atrophy of the ipsilateral thalamus. The history confirms that these changes were largely intrauterine.
