Case 10 History ---- The patient was an 88-year-old man with a past history of hyperlipidemia, dementia, prostate cancer, glaucoma, aortic valve replacement, B12 deficiency, severe chronic kidney disease, and a CVA. The decedent was discharged to hospice for end-of-life care on 3/21 after admission to the emergency room for acute hypoxic respiratory failure. The decedent expired on 5/22 due to acute and chronic combined systolic and diastolic congestive heart failure. Vascular pathology in the forms of arteriolosclerosis, amyloid angiopathy, and mild atherosclerosis was present.
