7A0 Case 7 History
Case 7 History ---- The patient was a 5-year-old boy with a history of pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease status post lung transplant. One month before his death, he presented with respiratory distress and was diagnosed with a metapneumovirus infection with superimposed pneumonia. He improved after completing a course of antibiotics. He died after developing increased cough which rapidly progressed to frank hemoptysis followed by PEA arrest and unsuccessful resuscitation. ---- At autopsy findings of rare eosinophilic neuronal necrosis in the cerebral cortex and micro-watershed infarcts in the cerebellum were thought to be related to brief hypoxic-ischemic episodes given his cardiac and respiratory issues.
