Case 9 History ---- The decedent is a 67-year-old woman with a history of end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis, diabetes, hypertension, and a recent cerebrovascular accident who was admitted for evaluation of confusion after hemodialysis on 6/15. A large remote infarct was also confirmed to be present within the right cerebellum. Although the neuronal populations were absent in the infarcted area, the retention of folial shape and Bergmann glia suggests that this injury is attributable to chronic ischemia or hypoperfusion, rather than a complete occlusion typically producing a cystic infarct.
