12A2,3 Coronal sections show the defect extends from the subarachnoid space to the ventricle. The surrounding parenchyma shows a surgical defect and loss of gray matter and pallor of the white matter with no evidence of polymicrogyria or heterotopia as might be expected with the time course of his illness.
