1A1 Porencephaly (Case 1) a
Case 1 History ---- This is a 2 year old patient with a history of premature birth and complicated postnatal period (details lost in this very old case) with longstanding cerebral palsy. The unfixed brain weight is 850 grams. ---- 1A1 Two porencephalic defects are seen in the middle cerebral artery territories bilaterally. The surrounding cortex is abnormal, with gyri radiating from the defect. Both MCA showed hypoplastic vessels leading into the areas of the cortical defect, which may represent a secondary effect of reduced amounts of parenchyma.
