Case 4 History ---- The patient is a 16 year old boy with a history of an intrauterine left MCA stroke with resultant cerebral palsy (hemiplegia and increased tone) and left hemispheric seizures since the age of 9. He was evaluated by the multidisciplinary epilepsy team and felt to be a good candidate for left functional hemispherotomy. Operative procedure: Craniotomy for left hemispherotomy. 4A1-3 These three T1-weighted MRI images show the large areas of multicystic tissue loss which is adjacent to but apparently not communicating with the ventricle on this level.
