1A1-3 Several coronal sections demonstrate an immature brain with focal multicystic areas of white matter necrosis (periventricular leukomalacia) in a periventricular distribution bilaterally. The spider web appearance reflects sparing of crossing vessels with cuffs of gliotic brain tissue.
