Case 2 History ---- This was the 3000 gram hydropic stillborn product of a 34 year old G3 mother. The mother had a history of a seizure disorder, controlled with phenobarbital. After the fetus had died in utero (at 32 weeks by dates), labor was induced and the baby was delivered vaginally. ---- General autopsy findings were consistent with a diagnosis of severe erythroblastosis fetalis, characterized by hemolytic anemia resulting from incompatibility of the blood groups of mother and fetus.
