Case 6 History ---- The patient had a 9-year course of progressive memory decline that appeared to worsen with chemotherapy of systemic non-Hodgkins lymphoma. In 2009, he had a recurrence of his lymphoma and was treated with chemotherapy. He died at home under hospice care at age 69. ---- At autopsy the fresh brain weighed 1350g. The histopathologic findings established the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease. A small acute infarct in the left globus pallidus (arrow) was characterized by scattered hypereosinophilic necrotic neurons and infiltrates of neutrophils.
