Washington University Experience | VASCULAR | Infarct - Remote | 12A1 Infarct, remote, (Case 12) _3
Case 12 History ---- This 84-year-old woman had a 15 year history of parkinsonism with asymmetric tremor of the hands at age 67 and, soon thereafter, slower gait, freezing and micrographia. One month prior to death, she had the sudden onset of reduced responsiveness and increased weakness resulting from a right parietal infarct with substantial swelling from which she never recovered. She was placed in hospice and subsequently died from inanition and dehydration with appropriate sedation and comfort measures. ---- 12A1 In this case we will focus on the cerebellum with cystic infarcts which are remote but not precisely timed by the history. In this case the cystic lesions are seen at the horizontal hemispheric fissure, a watershed region in the cerebellum
