Case 17 History ---- The patient was a 57 year-old woman with a history of seizure disorder treated for over 20 years, schizophrenia, hemorrhagic stroke status post ventriculoperitoneal shunt, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes. The patient was admitted to BJH and treated for presumed bacterial meningitis with vancomycin and ceftriaxone Chest x-ray showed decreasing lung volume with bilateral interstitial infiltrates were concerning for mild pulmonary edema. The patient also had elevated white count and creatinine and was treated for hospital-acquired pneumonia with antibiotics. However, the patient's mental status declined, and the patient was made comfort care and expired.
