.Case 15 History ---- This was a 68 year-old man with a past medical history significant for chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He was diagnosed in 2001 but did not require treatment until 2004 when his white blood cell count had risen to over 170,000. Within the last few months of his life he developed a confusional state, dysarthria and mild right hemiparesis as well as a waxing and waning mental status. MRI showed numerous infarcts in various stages. Terminally, he developed aspiration pneumonia and died. ---- 15A1,2 Two magnifications of a resolving infarct has demonstrate a laminar pattern. Gliotic white matter exaggerates the gray white separation.
