Washington University Experience | VASCULAR | Infarct - Subacute | 3A Aneurysm, coiled, infarct, subacute (Case 3)_12
Case 3 History ---- This 49 year old woman was found unresponsive at home. Workup revealed a right internal carotid aneurysm which was coiled by interventional radiology. She died 14 days later and infarcts were demonstrated involving the basal ganglia and occipital lobes. ---- The likely cause of bilateral infarction of the occipital lobes was thought to be a period of uncal herniation with PCA compression resulting in laminar necrosis.
