8D4,5 The microscopic appearance of the cortex at the depths of the sulcus shows a more substantial eosinophilic neuronal necrosis and probably represents an acute to early subacute reaction. Even though the ischemic event was 10 days previously, continued insults may have superimposed additional acute histopathologic changes. (H&E)
