Coronal sections through the cerebral hemispheres show diffuse dusky greyish red discoloration of the cerebral cortex and the white matter of the centrum semiovale and internal capsule. The deep grey structures of the basal ganglia and thalamus are violaceous and granular with fragmentation, probably induced during sectioning. The dorsal aspects of the hemisphere appear better preserved.
