Case 7 History ---- The decedent was an 88 y/o woman on hospice with advanced Alzheimer's dementia. Comorbidities include peptic ulcer disease and hypertension. She had significant decline during the past 4 to 5 weeks per her caregiver, including sleeping more with poor oral intake, minimally responsive, and nonverbal in the days leading to her expiration. Prior to death she was incontinent of bladder and bowel. ---- At autopsy her unfixed brain weighed 950g. She had NIA/AA Alzheimer Disease Neuropathologic Change – High (A3B3C2-3) with pontine and basal ganglia infarcts and marked arteriolosclerosis and atherosclerosis.
