1E5,6 There are scattered tangles and pre-tangles in the hippocampus but not in any other site. These neurodegenerative changes are not sufficient to meet the neuropathologic criteria for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease according to the Khachaturian, CERAD, NIA-Reagan Institute or NIA/AA criteria. Although there were clinical expectations for PD there were no Lewy bodies in any site examined.
