5H-M The following images focus on the downstream effect of the proximal vascular malformation on the inferior olivary nucleus (ION). This transneuronal effect results from the structural or functional interruption of part of the central tegmental tract (CTT) by the brainstem vascular malformation, perhaps a “steal phenomenon”. ---- An axial section of the medulla demonstrates the residual part of the vascular malformation at the level of the ION.
