Example of wickerworks from other WU cases, one an ALS autopsy. These lesions have often been associated with assorted vascular disorders but are usually curiosities not pathognomonic of any vasculopathy. These entities have been recently reviewed (PMID: 37641147) ---- A diagnosis of multiple microvascular thromboemboli in brain, pituitary, myocardium, lungs, kidneys, adrenals and thyroid gland, was thought consistent with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Nonetheless, without ADAMTS13 measurements the current diagnosis would be thrombotic microangiopathy.
