2D1-3 F Axons in the white matter in the depths of this sulcus are markedly diminished in number. Comparison with the previous C1-3 myelin series shows that the tissue which stains for myelin contains no axons. It has been reported than hypoxic/ischemic lesions in neonates may exhibit myelination of glial processes (in status marmoratus) rather than axons. (Bielschowsky).
