1B3,4 The basilar artery aneurysm shows multiple foci of inflammation with large numbers of lymphocytes, macrophages and multinucleate giant cells in the vessel wall and complete replacement of the smooth muscle in the tunica media by fibrous scar. Significant intimal thickening and fibroplasia, are consistent with a chronic vasculitis. (H&E)
