3A0 Case 3 History
Case 3 History ---- The patient is a 78 year old woman with a history of trigeminal neuralgia. Her symptoms started approximately three weeks ago, when she developed a "bump" over her left temporal region followed soon after by a similar bump over her right temple. She had bilateral temporal pain and tenderness to palpation, as well as scalp tenderness and occasional jaw claudication with increased fatigue. The patient also had a few episodes of bilateral blurry vision, which resolved spontaneously. She also has had one episode of her legs feeling weak, otherwise, she denies any muscle weakness. She was admitted for a temporal artery biopsy with concern for temporal arteritis. Her ESR at the time was 91. An ophthalmology consult found new evidence of ocular vasculitis. Operative procedure: Temporal artery biopsy
